Tupac poured a drink out for his lost loved ones and fallen brothers as a sign of his sincerest reverence… The military fires 21 guns… The Irish drink… Loved ones scatter ashes… But the seasons have only one way to tip their hat and that is sacrificing time. I see daylight savings time as a cheers to enduring the winter and building character. It’s natures way of saying “with ever death comes rebirth” and for the sacrifices I will pour out an hour.
Every year we anticipate the Sunday where our hangover lasts a little longer and our Monday comes a little sooner. In the same respect we are given months of elongated sunlight when we want it most, and warmth when it seems we live in permafrost. We reap the benefits of April showers and the beauty of May flowers. We are reminded that there is a yin and a yang to life and nature. On Monday when you wake up and it is much brighter than usual and your day seems more energetic, remember that we, like nature, are being reborn. So make sure to set your watches and change your clocks because you don’t want your alarm clock to be your boss’s phone call. Props to Sunlight.
