Im sure you have felt moody before, and have decided that you aren’t going to go anywhere for the entire day. And all you want to do is stay in bed, keep to yourself, think, and listen to music. I had one of those just this past week. And it was MUCH needed! lol
So when I have these days, which are quite rare. I put on comfortable clothes, make coffee or tea, of course I eat, then I get deep into thought, and listen to really really really good music. So because I recently had one of these days, I have a fresh playlist of what I listened to, and below, I have highlighted a few of the songs that really got me on my moody little day.
“Change” Banks
I feel like not many people know about Banks, but the people that do, really like her. To me, she is the better version of Lorde. Its annoying to me that Lorde is more popular. When I first heard Banks’s album “Goddess” I was addicted for a good amount of time. For the people that know about Banks, their favorite song is most likely “Beggin for Thread”, which is a dark song, with a great beat, and interesting tonal inflections. I love it. But my favorite song from Banks, is a more simple still a little dark, but beautiful song called “Change”. I was actually surprised to see how little recognition this song gets. So I wanted to recognize it now, and give props to “Change” by Banks!!
“Give Me Love” Ed Sheeran
Now most know all about Ed Sheeran, and most people generally like the guy. I mean he is cool, he’s funny, he’s talented, and he has great music. Before Ed Sheeran became super famous he had a small album out and on it there was a song called “Give Me Love”. Now from the title you can probably guess what the song is about. But, I remember back in college when a friend of mine explained what he interpreted the song to be about, and from that conversation I have been obsessed. This song has more than one interpretation, is one of Ed Sheeran’s best songs hands down.
“Warning” Incubus
Remember Incubus? Yea they were a pretty amazingly awesome band. I used to love Rock/Alternative music, and I think mainly because Incubus was around. I am obsessed with the lyrics in their song “Warning”… They make me really think about life, who I am, and what I want to do in the world. Kinda funny that one song can make me think all of that, but this song does, and I love it!
Oh and sorry this video is kinda scary lol
“Comfort Inn Ending” Jhene Aiko
Do you like Jhene Aiko? Many of my friends do, and its because she has mellow but good beats, with lyrics that are so relatable. Another friend of mine had to like really sit me down and explain the meaning of this song. The second it clicked and I got it, this song became my favorite song by Jhene Aiko. If you haven’t listened yet, then sit down and listen now!
“Breath Me” Sia
These days Sia is mainly known for her song with the Weeknd “Elastic Heart”, her other somewhat of a hit song Chandelier, and as the voice on “Wild One’s” with Flo Rida. But Sia has been around for a while, and she has one of the most epic songs I maybe have literally ever heard. Its called “Breathe Me” … And it just gets me….. Have a listen.
Yes, I know! Sia’s song is just so so so good right???
Well that song will conclude the first part of this blog!! Stay tuned for the other 5 songs!
