Props: The Best Friend
I wanted to take a minute to give props to the best friend, or in my case, to my best friends. Everyone has a best friend, and we are the people we are because of the impact they have on our lives. For that and for many more reasons, I give props to the best friend.
I’m very blessed to have a large group of individuals that I consider as my best friends. We do so much with each other it’s amazing. We go to “family dinner” every Wednesday and are avid trivia players. When we go out we have a routine: we pregame, then we separate and all go our different ways, but always reconvene at Conner’s pub to end the night. However, there is so much more than just going out with these people. When we’re hanging out, we have a few beers, maybe more, but the conversations are real and there is genuine concern and interest about what everyone is saying. When we’re all together there is not a care in the world, the stressors of life vanish, the angst of my ridiculous workload settles, and the good times roll.
These individuals that I am giving props to I owe everything; they are my family, and I say this with all sincerity. When I was at my lowest they were there to pick me up, and when I’m at my highest they are there cheering to my successes. Over the years we all have changed as individuals, but the friendships have never faded. I myself moved to Ohio last fall to begin the treacherous journey of Law School. This past year has been one of the more mentally/emotionally/just all around draining experiences of my life. When I was having a hard time, our group chat would go off and instantly the comfort of home would sink in. The messages would be brief but were more powerful than an atomic bomb. See, with these individuals we encourage each other to chase our dreams and to settle for nothing less. Hearing from these people gave me a light of hope and reminded me of the hard work I promised to give. My friends again and again save me when I’m going through a tough time. For this, I am forever grateful and hope that one day I can return the favor.
For many of you reading it this may seem strange that a man is blogging about the importance of a best friend. The thing is though; these people motivate me to be a better man. These people make me understand that there is so much love in this world its unreal. At the end of the day, no matter how bad, I know that my mood will be lifted in someway by my best friends. This world we live in can be a tough place to handle at times, but no matter the situation, I always get by with a little help from my friends. I know we all have these best friends and sometimes I don’t tell them how important they are. So here is me giving them the recognition they deserve. I challenge you to do the same to your best friends. So props to you Mackenzie, Wannabe Genius J, Swamp Donkey, Turtle, Gutter troll, Fezda, Chimney, Lando, Caveman, T, Z, Claydo, and C Murda
